Login to Scrive with a Google Account
Scrive allows users to authenticate and access their accounts using their Google credentials. This streamlines the login process and allows new users to quickly sign up without needing to create or remember a separate Scrive password.
By default, Google Login is disabled for all user groups.
Permissions & Access
Managing OAuth login settings (including Google and Microsoft Login) is restricted to Account Owners.
If you are an Admin or a User Admin, you can view the authentication settings for your user groups, but the dropdowns will be disabled (read-only).
How to Enable Google Login
As an Account Owner, you can enable Google Login for specific user groups:
Navigate to the User group settings for the desired group.
Scroll down to the Authentication section.
Locate the setting: Allow users to sign in with Google. (Helper text: Allows users to authenticate using Google to access their Scrive accounts).
Change the selection from No to Yes.
Save your changes.
Managing Child User Groups
When configuring Google Login for an organization with multiple user groups, the behavior depends on whether the child group uses inherited or custom settings:
Inherited Settings: If a child user group is set to inherit its settings from the parent group, the Google Login setting will mirror the parent's configuration. The dropdown will be visible but disabled.
Custom Settings: If a child user group uses custom settings, the Account Owner can configure Google Login independently from the parent group. Additionally, the settings for Google Login and Microsoft Login are completely independent of one another (e.g., you can enable Google Login while keeping Microsoft Login disabled).
Logging In
Existing active users can simply click Sign in with Google. As long as they are assigned to a user group with Google Login enabled, they will be authenticated and routed directly to their Scrive E-archive.
Signing Up with Google
When a new user without an existing Scrive profile chooses to sign in using Google, Scrive securely verifies their identity and creates a new account for them.
The Sign-Up Flow
After clicking Sign in with Google, the user is redirected to a quick account setup page.
The user will be prompted to fill in any missing profile details and accept the Scrive Terms of Service.
No Password Required: Because Google handles the authentication securely, the standard password creation screen is completely skipped.
