What is a Notified National eID?
A notified eID scheme refers to an electronic identification system evaluated and approved under the EU’s eIDAS regulation. You can see a full list of notified national eIDs here.

Is QES legally equivalent to a handwritten signature?
Yes, eIDAS specifies that qualified electronic signatures have the same legal standing as handwritten signatures across the EU.

Why is QES better than AES or simple electronic signatures?
QES offers the highest level of trust and certainty. Unlike AES, which is presumed valid but must be confirmed by a court, QES guarantees validity upfront. In short, QES ensures privacy, trust and simplicity, making it the safest choice.
- Validity: QES eliminates uncertainty about which signature level is required. For example, while the Swedish Companies Act (aktiebolagslagen) requires AES, QES ensures compliance as it is valid wherever AES or SES is accepted.
- Predictability: Unlike AES, which may only be confirmed valid in court, QES meets the strictest legal requirements upfront.
- Validation: AES validation can be complex due to multiple trusted lists. QES relies on a single source issued by the EU/its member states.

What eIDs are supported?
While Scrive QES currently only supports Swedish BankID, it is designed for future scalability. As more national eIDs approved under eIDAS are integrated, Scrive QES will enable seamless cross-border signing, allowing users from different EU member states to sign the same document effortlessly.
